The Tale of The Persistent Poacher

[Please excuse the quality, shot on Betacam, only a VHS copy remains] First broadcast commissioned documentary. Made with Andy Mcleod on and near the banks of the River Tweed. I grew up in Berwick on Tweed, I knew many people who were salmon poachers, a story close to my heart. This story of Keith, who became well known in the area, was sparked by hearing about a hefty tax bill raised by the HMRC, based on an estimate of his illegal earnings, from salmon poaching. Many great elements contributed to this film, Andy McLeod’s photography, the great script, wonderful sounding Scottish Borders voice of Alistair McNeill, the music of Old Blind Dogs and of course Keith’s contribution of story telling and allowing us into his world.
