I'm really impressed with the dynamic range of this Prosumer 1" "Small Sensor" Handycam. The footage grades wonderfully and retains a fair good amount of highlights information, in despite of the 4.2.0 Chroma Sub sampling. However, the top image quality (XAVC-S 50Mbps) can only be achieve by using the more expensive SDXC Class 10 cards. The Zeiss lens is good and shows no chromatic aberrations in all focal range and apertures, being f2.8 the maximum. The auto-focus is very slow though. The built in ND filters are a most welcome addition to this camera. The Full HD image is incredible sharp and I think it's because this is, probably, a 4K supersampled to 1080p. I'm saying this based on the fact that Sony has a 4K twin sister called FDR-AX100. These cameras are the same and the difference should be, only, the firmware which prevents the CX900 from record the 4K to the card. For a consumer camera, It's quite expensive, costing US$1.500. However, the build quality, the all manual exposure and focus controls, the 50Mbps Codec, the 20MP stills and the excellent view finder, put this camera two steps ahead of the competitors. In the end,it looks and feels much more pro than consumer.
