Stella Czajkowski - Piano 00:00 01:30 02:05 03:07 04:22 Artur Malawski (1904-1957) was a Polish Composer, Violinist and Conductor. From the age of eight, he learned to play the violin in Przemyśl. In 1920, he began eight-year violin studies at the Conservatory of the Music Society in Krakow in the class of Jan Chmielewski and in music theory with Fr. Bernardine Rizzi. In the years 1927–1933 he gave concerts in Krakow and other cities, and on Polish Radio. He had to give up his virtuoso career due to an injury to his left hand. Then he began his career as a professor. In 1936 he entered the State Conservatory of Music in Warsaw, where he studied composition with Kazimierz Sikorski and conducting with Walerian Bierdiajew. In 1941 he settled in Lviv, and then moved to Lublin, where until 1944 he taught privately to play the violin and organized concerts for Poles. In 1948 he achieved artistic success with his "Symphonic Etudes" for piano and orchestra during the festival of the International Society for Contemporary Music in Amsterdam. His students included Bogusław Schaeffer, Krzysztof Penderecki (composition) and Jerzy Katlewicz and Jerzy Semkow (conducting), and Wojciech Kilar. There is no copyright infringement intended.
