How to TILE a SHOWER WALL --- Vertical Subway Tiles

Irregular zellige tiles are a popular choice for tile walls. Ceramic or porcealain tiles the most common types. When installing these tiles, special considerations are needed: 1.) Grout joints will vary, so diffent size spacers or wedges will be needed to tolerate the differnt size grout joints between each tile. 2.) The porcelain tiles can be cupped, warped, or bowed in the middle. Backbuttering in the middle of the tile to create a good bond and coverage is necessary. 3.) These tiles are not perfect, so installing them will take an artistic eye to create a good overall pattern and design. 4.) The tiles can be set in many different designs including vertical stack (soldier), horizontal stack, vertical offset, or horizontal offset (brick set, or running bond).
