Kaş || Antalya || Türkiye || Turkey

Kaş is a small fishing, diving, yachting and tourist town in Antalya Province. The town is on a hill running down to the Turquoise Coast of southwestern Turkey. Kaş has a typical Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, which allows the growth of oranges, lemons and bananas. Tourism is the main source of income in the district, which has many hotels and guest houses. About 6km (4 mi) offshore from Kaş is the Greek island of Kastellorizo (Καστελλόριζο). The island is served by a Turkish ferry daily with the option of same day returns. Antiphellos Ancient City (Antiphellos Antik Kenti): 1. Amphitheater The Hellenistic amphitheatre, which was restored in 2008, is located 500m from the centre of Kaş. It was capable of seating 4000 spectators. The amphitheatre is the only structure of its type in Anatolia with a sea front. It is complete, but lacks a proscenium, so as to avoid blocking the view of the sea. 2. The King's Tomb (Kral Mezarı) One of the town's sarcophagi is the 4th century BCE Lycian Inscribed Mausoleum, known locally as the King's Tomb. The Lion Sarcophagus, popularly known as the King's Tomb, is located on Uzunçarşı Street. The tomb is in excellent condition. 2a. Lycia Rock Tombs (Likya Kaya Mezarları) 3. Kaş Old Town Kaş Old Town is lined with bars, cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops and small boutique hotels. The old town square, Cumhuriyet Square is the heart of the town, the center from which life flows along small and quaint backstreets. It is a perfect place to sit down in one of the many cafes and watch the day goes by as the local goes about their daily activities. Made up of traditional two-story houses with bay windows and rows of small shops underneath, these streets are decorated with bougainvillea draping down from balconies presenting a friendly and inviting atmosphere. 4. Kaş Old Town Marina A small marina situated next to the old town square. It is used by small local fishing boats, scuba diving boats and tourist boats. 5. Çukurbağ Peninsula & beach Çukurbağ is the best place for those looking for a holiday full of peace and quiet. Located 6 km from Kas, the Çukurbağ Peninsula is covered with boutique hotels and villas on all sides. The lack of artificial lights at night makes it a good place to watch the stars. 6. Küçük Çakıl A little pebble beach at the old town centre. The water here was beautifully clear and blue, and not too rough as it was situated in a relatively protected cove. 7. Setur Kaş Marina Kaş Marina is set to become one of the Mediterranean region’s most modern marinas to date; reuniting Kaş with its historical maritime identity to turn it into a thriving sea town once again. With a 472 berthing capacity, Kaş Marina has a dry storage capacity of 160 boats. The marina has seven floating pontoons and a breakwater and with a convenient water depth will provide mooring facilities for all types of boats, inclusive of super and mega yachts. 8.
