building a brush shelter is a good skill for woodscraft / bushcraft. it can be a good shelter for outdoor adventures. the problem with them is time. Here in this video, i build a primitive bushcraft/emergency shelter in only 30 mins to sleep warm on a cool night. I began by site selection. then I gathered fallen leaves to act as insulation. next, I piled the leaves in a natural depression and began to compress the pile. The compression formed a thick bed of leaves to protect me from the cold of the ground. Next, I covered the pile of prepared leaf bed with a u.s. army poncho. Once I staked the poncho in such a way to allow movement under it and keep from losing my leaves above me I began to gather more leaves. the next step was to fully bury the poncho in a thick layer of dry leaves with a few small sticks and twigs added to hold the pile together. In less than 30 minutes I had completed the survival shelter and was ready to sleep the night in warmth and total comfort. this is a solo overnight survival poncho shelter that anyone can build in a few minutes.
