È una specie pelagica diffusa nell'Oceano Atlantico orientale, nel Mar Mediterraneo (frequente lungo tutta la costa Adriatica e la costa Ionica, particolarmente nei periodi tardo-estivi ed inizio-autunnali) e nel Mar Nero.
