Bayou Boogie ~ Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest Cover

Watch for falling barrels. This game features one of my favorite original soundtracks that I've ever heard, with Stickerbush Symphony being my favorite song of all time. David Wise is known for his work on the Donkey Kong Country series, and it was only a matter of time before I covered another of his pieces. This one plays in Barrel Bayou, as well as one or two other levels, I believe. I initially didn't care for this piece, possibly because of the strange percussive buildup that, when combined with the various deaths and bonus rooms that interrupt a level's music, prevented me from hearing and fully appreciating the bulk of the piece. After giving it a listen outside of the game, however, I grew to adore it just as much as any of Wise's many other masterpieces. In terms of the arrangement, I wanted to do a lot with this one because I had a lot of time to work on it. This, combined with my increasing knowledge of music theory, allowed me to implement many harmonies, counter-melodies, and a unique solo section, all of which I am extremely proud of and excited for you all to hear. I also added the percussive sound of a comb very lightly in the mix, which I take no credit for. This idea actually came from Burning Idol's own phenomenal cover of this piece, which I recommend you all check out. I'm really happy with this one, and I hope that you all enjoy it!
