Welcome to Bomdila - a small town in West Kemang district also the headquarters of the district. Bomdila has a past with major Buddhist and Tibetan influences. There is not much history available about this place. However, if stories are to be believed, Bomdila was part of Tibet during the medieval period. The Chinese had tried to claim this land in the 1960’s but later withdrew. This is my second visit to Arunachal and first time visiting the buddhist circuit. There's not much to do in Bomdila unlike the famous Tawang and Dirang in the same belt. Though, you need an eye to find stories even in the places where we do not have much to see :) . I got a chance to visit the famous Bomdila Monastery, saw a Mandala in making, visited the Craft Centre, Mandala Top and many more yet-to-be-popular places. Mandala Top is newly built site on the way to Dirang from Bomdila. It is a series of 108 Buddhist stupas built in a circle on top of a mountain.
