Tambourine Beginner Series, Part 1 🌸⚪️🌸 How to Hold Your Drum, with Barbara Gail The Tambourine Path

Hi, I'm The Rhythm Inlet's Barbara Gail. Welcome to my new beginner tambourine series of lessons, The Tambourine Path! I'm a longtime senior student of Layne Redmond, author of "When the Drummers Were Women". Predominantly played by women in group processions for both ceremony and celebration, in the temples and in the streets of the Ancient Mediterranean World, this beautiful instrument is a member of the frame drum family. Time-stamped content chapters for this video, and an Amazon Link* for Layne's book, "When the Drummers Were Women", are below. The Tambourine Path is a series of short videos based on over 2 decades of teaching hand-drumming in general, but more specifically women's tambourine, which I've called 'Moonrise: Daughters of an Ancient Pulse'. There I fused the concept 'Women, Rhythm, and Ritual' into my weekly and monthly women's tambourine lessons and workshops. These free beginner lessons on YouTube are my gift to the world during a time of great change, as we witness The Rise of the Feminine, individually and collectively. This is the 2nd video of the series. If you missed the first one, please go here:    • Tambourine Lessons for Beginners 🌸⚪️🌸...   Thanks to Layne and her students, the ancient frame drum has seen a resurgence these past 25 years, especially the last 5 years, as our students are now also teaching. The tambourine is what Layne primarily played and taught for much of that time, and has been my primary frame drum. In this 7-part series of short videos, I teach how to properly hold your drum with the most comfort, how to play the 5ive strokes of the drum to make your drum sing, how to notate the rhythms as we always have at The Rhythm Inlet teaching studio, and there are some extra bonus lessons sprinkled in! No knowledge of how to read music, or experience learning music or rhythm, are needed! I'll share lots of my inspirational photos of "Moonrise: Daughters of an Ancient Pulse" and "DrumRise! the Art of Women's Drumming", the 2 women's drum troupes I've led over the years, in their publicly presented tambourine processions at special events. 🌸⚪️🌸 Link to my video "How to Choose a Tambourine"    • How to Buy a Frame Drum 🌸⚪️🌸 Choosing...   Thanks for joining me! 🙏🏼 If you enjoyed in this video, please give it a 'Like' by hitting the thumb button 👍🏽, share it with your friends, leave a comment or question if you have one (I love hearing from you and I always respond), and be sure to subscribe to my channel so you know when I upload new content, including more of my free instructional videos! ❤️ With special thanks to the students of Moonrise & DrumRise. ❤️ ❤️ Dedicated as always to the memory of Layne Redmond, may her soul continue to drum with Mobs of Angels. ❤️ ❤️ With love and gratitude to Jeff Hanna, the soulmate by my side. ❤️ Thank you again, and may your day be in rhythm! http://barbaragail.com   / barbara.gail1     / drumrisewomensdrumming   ▬▬ Contents of this video ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 0:00 - Intro 0:25 - Announcement about your end bonus! 0:43 - If you don't have a tambourine and would like to... 1:17 - The shape and placement of the holding hand 5:46 - The clock face position, and balance 7:21 - Introducing the 'tic' 8:13 - Positioning of the drum #tambourine #whenthedrummerswerewomen #framedrum ▬▬ AMAZON LINKS* ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ *Products I review and recommend, which can be purchased from Amazon with these links.
