Year One

This is a short follow-up to our mini documentary ‘Day One’ that documented pupil’s first day at our bespoke new site at Doxford Park in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. In this short follow-up documentary the cameras follow pupils one year later, on day 200 in the building, and staff talk about some of their highlights and events that took place over the first 200 days since stepping into the school’s new home. “Leaders have developed an inspirational curriculum that ensures that learning is tailored to meet the needs of all pupils. Because of this, pupils display exceptionally high levels of engagement in learning. They make rapid progress from their starting points.” (Ofsted, 2023). Sunningdale school’s multi-tiered curriculum model consists of a series of curriculum pathways which are explained in further depth in the Curriculum section of our website. These are each underpinned by a broad range of relevant pedagogical strategies, the school’s unique use of engagement motivators and personalised assessment systems.
