Tinolang Lugaw by Chef Gelo Guison and Mae Paner of Kawa Pilipinas served at MAFBEX

Chef Gelo Guison, also a content creator and culinary instructor, talks about the cooking demo they were about to do that day at the Manila Foods & Beverages Expo Chefs of the World stage located at the lobby of the World Trade Center Manila. He cooked "Tinolang Lugaw" which is a combination of our "Tinola" and "Lugaw", two dishes that Filipinos love, and later gave everyone a taste, actually a bowl of their delicious lugaw for each of those who attended their cooking demo. The fusion was composed of the usual ingrediens like chicken, papaya, dahon ng sili, and other ingredients that could easily be bought from the neighborhood stores or nearby palengke. He mentioned his involvement with the Kawa Pilipinas Foundation, an advocacy group that Mae P. Paner aka Juana Change set up during the pandemic to feed the hungry which also includes PDLs or Persons Deprived of Liberty. While Chef Gelo was cooking, Mae shared a lot of stories about their foundation including how it started and it's inspiring growth where people from all walks of life have reached out to them to either donate or share their time and skills to help out in their kitchen. They are still accepting donations and volunteers to help in the food preparation, cooking and distribution of food during their feeding programs. Mind you, the food that they serve to the hungry, whom they are calling their "beloved", are not the ordinary or plain food packs. The photos presented on stage and seen by the audience shows servings of food that are like those that we see at above average restaurants. They believe that the food they give out to their "beloved" should be Masarap, Malinis, Masustansiya, Madami and gives the recipients the feeling of May Dignidad. #KawaPilipinas #MAFBEX #WazzupPilipinas
