NAMESAKE 2025P10 'OFFSHORE' RUNWAY

"In the rhythm of the waves, we find our direction and purpose." This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the essence of NAMESAKE's Spring/Summer 2025 collection, "OFFSHORE," which celebrates family, heritage, and personal growth with a focus on equanimity. The collection's spirit is vividly captured in a poignant video featuring Richard Hsieh, the eldest of the founding brothers, proposing to his fiancée at a Buddhist altar. This moment symbolizes his journey from rebellious youth to poised maturity, following in the footsteps of his father's sacrifice of a fashion career for the family's fishery business. Marking NAMESAKE's tenth season, "OFFSHORE" is a love letter from the younger brothers, Steve and Michael Hsieh, to Richard, honoring the embodiment of the brand's core values—family, basketball, the ocean, and fishery. The collection showcases Richard's personal growth and the brand’s evolution. Inspired by "The Legend of 1900," Creative Director Steve Hsieh parallels Richard's transition from Taipei to Kaohsiung with the protagonist’s life on the ship. This narrative of seeking solitude and peace is expressed through bold-shouldered silhouettes and muted earth tones. Tailoring inspired by Buddhist monk robes and sport performance zip-ups blend spirituality with functionality, symbolizing Richard’s journey towards inner peace and equanimity. The collection incorporates the family's fishery heritage, using sailing textiles and colors. Draping mimics the wind's effect on sails, while basketball shorts fused with fisherman’s towel styles capture fisherman-wear. Steve's love for basketball and Richard’s passion for running to find inner strength are interwoven throughout the collection. Drawing inspiration from Steve Nash's resilience during the 2007 NBA playoffs and Terry Fox’s persistence in running across Canada, they set the tone for the collection’s subtle rebellious attitude. This spirit is reflected in pieces like linen biker shirts, Coach Jackets with pearl studs, and monk-neck western shirts. Design details draw from basketball, rowing, sailing, and fishery. Athletic buckle details, seamwork mimicking rowing, and varsity jackets with reefed sail motifs enrich the collection. Bomber jackets with rolled-up plackets and zig-zag stitching, along with shirts featuring sailor’s duffle bag handles, blend tradition with a contemporary approach, resulting in NAMESAKE’s own nautical style. The fabric palette ranges from rugged to smooth, reflecting the brand's agricultural roots and commitment to sustainability. Linen, carefully blended with nylon or cotton, ensures both durability and a refined finish, while embracing the brand's commitment to sustainable materials. Innovative blends, such as pineapple leaf-fiber and agricultural waste fabrics, breathe new life into the collection, infusing it with playful energy inspired by the depths of the ocean. Glittering sports mesh and tricolor warp knit fabrics evoke the sea's beauty, while traditional sailor fabrics in natural heavy cotton and linen offer a timeless touch. Wind-proof micro-grid poly and bonded polyethylene with micro textures evoke the modernity of sailing materials, adorned with nautical stripe prints that capture the essence of maritime heritage. "OFFSHORE" is more than a collection; it’s a narrative of family, heritage, community, and personal evolution. As NAMESAKE charts its course, this season's designs honor its roots while exploring new horizons, navigating the sea of life with serene composure and unwavering equanimity.
