Classic cars & lorries at Malpas Yesteryear Rally 2022 (inc Ken Fox "Wall of Death"!)

The Malpas Yesteryear Rally has been a mecca for fans of classic cars, lorries, tractors and wonderful old steam traction engines & rollers for YEARS, and the 2022 show was no exception. We headed over in the mighty Standard 8, injecting a touch of glamour and sophistication to the parking area, and spent a very enjoyable day ogling the many old cars and other vehicles that had turned up. The Malpas Yesteryear rally in Cheshire (close to the Shropshire border) is a two-day show, we went on the Saturday only as the VSCC Loton Park meet was scheduled for the following day. Car-wise, our highlights included very smart examples of Morris 10M and Ford Model Y, a very appealing post-war Jeep CJ, Vauxhall Viva HB estate, a very original Wolseley 16/60 in the same colour scheme as the example I owned 20+ years ago, Standard Vanguard Phase 1, and a very original Ford E83W van that I last saw many years ago in the corner of a dark barn. Thanks to the owner of a smart Morgan too for having a chat and filling in my scant knowledge of the marque. On the lorry side, some of our favourites included a wonderful old Foden in its original signwritten guise, a fantastic 1920s Morris-Commercial lorry, a pair of vintage vans (Ford Model T & Austin 7), and a rare Hotchkiss, but there were so many great old vehicles there that it's difficult to draw up a shortlist of favourites. There were also loads of tractors, caravans, steam vehicles and displays, most of which I've tried to capture at least a glimpse of in this video. Ken Fox's famous "Wall of Death", a long-running attraction that sees various motorcycles and a buggy driven at an impressive rate of knots within a circular wooden structure, also proved to be a great thing to watch - rather them than me, although it is a good excuse to buy and own some fantastic old motorcycles, including Indians - a popular choice for Wall of Death riders. Thanks as always for watching, and consider subscribing if this kind of viewing is up your street. There are plenty of other show reports now live on the Old Classic Car channel, with more lined up for upcoming weeks.
