D.Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major, Opus 107 Joon-ho Shim, an all-round player who plays solo, collaborative, chamber music, and orchestra, is currently the most unrivaled cellist in the Korean music world. At the 40th Jeunesse International Musical Competition in 2010, head of the jury Natalia Gutman said, "He plays with a cool head and a hot heart." He received rave reviews as “a true musician” and became the first Korean to win unanimously among the judges. He also won the second place at the 2012 Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition. He studied with Young-Chang Cho at the Folkwang University of Music in Essen, Germany, and with Truls Mørk and Jian Wang at the Norwegian National Conservatory of Music. He was the first Korean to be selected as an artist for Larsen Strings, the world's best string brand, and is currently using the 'Vaska' instrument produced by 'Carlo Ruggeri' in 1710. 0:00 I.
