Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁), meaning "Greatly Blessed", was the first and largest of the Five Grand Palaces in Seoul. Built in 1395, it served as the main palace and home the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. The palace was destroyed during the Korean-Japan war in 1592 and was restored in 1867 under the leadership of Heungseondaewongun during the reign of King Gojong. In here, visitors can see the elegant royal culture of Joseon, including facilities for royal affairs of kings and officials.
