Ankle injuries are commonly due to "bending" forces aka inversion or eversion injuries. Typically, these are motions to the subtalar joint. Internal rotation and external rotation of the ankle refers to the motion of the talus within the joint. Inversion injuries = supination Eversion injuries = pronation This is important when classifying these fractures.
