Yambu is the oldest style of rumba. And the tutorial video shares the Yambu rhythm and the central role of the clave. Viewers can go directly to the section of their interest by clicking on it in the list provided above. We are driving around the world in our 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser named Nulla. Our favorite moments are when we find that intersection of music and art. We spent almost two months in Cuba at the beginning of 2023. During our time in Cuba, we witnessed the importance of music. The clave is the heartbeat of central Havana. Only one block from where we stayed, the legendary group Rumbero de Cuba performed every Friday. The highlight of our time in Havana was studying with legendary drummers and percussionists in Cuba. We walked 30 minutes to Casa de Juan Bencomo almost daily to study Cuban rumba rhythms with Maestro Maximino Duquesne Martinez. The time spent with Maximino was an honor we will never forget, and we thank him for the opportunity. We also want to thank Lazaro Rizo and Juan Bencomo, who shared their time with us and are also featured in the video. In addition, we want to thank Miguelito Leon, who supported, coordinated the artists, and directed the development of the video. These artists are all members of the Rumba All Stars. You can follow them @RumbaAllStars. I am a long-time student of the drum. It is from my experience as a student that I share this tutorial video. Enjoy! We plan to make more tutorial videos. Follow us @NullaCruising! Gracias!
