Don Harris - Master of the Ring - 2021 Tribute

I wrote this song, "Master of the Ring," for Don Harris after he won the 5-Gaited World Grand Championship with Protegé in Louisville, 1993. Wrote it out in one night — could hear it in my head. I was already working on an album of material, so I was able to begin crafting the song in the studio, and the next year played a rough mix for Don and Roz at the Executive Inn in Louisville. After the final mix, of course I provided CDs to Don. A few years later, at a party Don and Roz held at their new home in Simpsonville, I performed the song live, with a backing mix and my dear friend, master guitarist and producer Charlie Quillen, backing me up live on lead guitar. Now, it gives me great pleasure to honor Don on his 85th birthday with this YouTube version of this special tribute song, featuring video from his USEF Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010, plus additional stills.
