Ableton Push 3 sounds | MPE Performance (no talking)

Hello everyone. Here we are. Ableton Push 3. There's lots to say and share to say the least. This is my first performance video with Ableton Push 3. It uses expressive sounds tuned for MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression), allowing for legato/glissando/bends/vibrato between notes horizontally as well as vertical slides on individual notes, adding various per-note effects or adjusting global parameters in Live itself. The possibilities here are quite vast, and I've just scratched the surface here, using a mix of new sounds in Live 11.3, as well as some new or customised ones I made myself. Not getting lost in the new possibilities this offers, as well as the totally new experience (and skill) of gliding and sliding fingers polyphonically on Push was a challenge but ultimately it is so exciting to see what the possibilities are here, in terms of expression but also sound design. Each pad is now an XY(Z) pad, hence the name of the video. The "Cello" sound I start and end with is a joy, and I like it as it's both expressive and string-like, but also clearly artificial. I do however wish I had edited out some of the detuning it semi-randomly does, which you can hear clearly at the end. I winced at that part somewhat, but it also highlights the nature of the beast, so to speak. That said, playing in tune is generally easy and completely adjustable or even something you can turn off if you wish. The other sounds I chose to express different ways of approaching this new possibility of using sliding gestures to modulate individual notes. After the cello sound it was also time to explore slightly more edgy and unusual textures. This is just the tip of the iceberg and I'm so excited to explore this further. I'll do that in a video Ableton have asked me to make on MPE as well as a new Push Bible course on sound design for Push and MPE. I have some thoughts on what Ableton Push 3 means - the headlines - and I've shared them here;    • Ableton Push 3: What you should know   I'm also launching new Push Bible courses, there's a teaser here and more info will be found on https://wrkshp.thinkific.com Do join the WRKSHP mailing list if you'd like to be kept up to date on Push 3 and more. I'll leave this here for now, as it's been a crazy few days to say the least, just after the dust settled on PLAYGRND (not wanting to complain, I'm just zapped). Thank you for joining me here, for the adventure so far, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Push 3. Andri p.s. no Performance notes in subtitles yet - I hope to once the dust settles!
