The Lucky One - Alison Krauss - Solo Acoustic Guitar (Fingerstyle)

My solo fingerstyle guitar cover of the Alison Kraus & Union Station song ‘The Lucky One’, released in 2001 from the album ‘New Favorite’. This arrangement is in the original key of A♯, but played with a capo on the third fret, making the chord positions as though playing in G major (in the open position without the capo). I have kept the original structure of the song the same but played the vocal melody a bit differently in the verse sections. I also improvised the second half of the instrumental section in the middle of the track. For the first half of the solo section, I tried to replicate the guitar lines from the recorded version of the song. I was torn between paying this using the traditional county-style finger picking method of alternating the bass from the root to the fifth or using a more percussive method and slapping the strings to create a beat, emulating the double bass in the original recording. In the end, I tried doing both, playing the former style for the intro, chorus and solo sections, and the latter (percussive) style in the verse sections. I also have ended up playing the song at a very slightly slower tempo than the studio recording, in which the video is 3:08 minutes long, as opposed to 3:18 in this video. This was unintentional but felt natural when playing the song as a solo instrumental.
