Asha ~ Return to your soul (ft. Tristan Heberlein)

Asha (aka Asha Elijah & Asher Quinn) presents a classic new-age track 'Return to your soul' from his album "Music For Love," featuring a time-lapse video of artist Tristan Heberlein painting an angel also entitled 'Return to your soul.' Asha: http://www.ashaquinn.com Tristan: http://www.tristanheberlein.com CD/download here: http://www.ashaquinn.com/musicforlove... Tristan is an artist ("commissions welcome", he says!), and a landscape and retreat-centre designer based in Seattle. He contacted me last month to say that he was painting (an angel) when my track 'Return to your soul' came onto Spotify. This is what he wrote to me: "I was partway done with the painting, listening to one of my ethereal/new age Spotify playlists, when 'Return to your soul' song came on. I had never heard anything from you before. I was moved to tears, put the song on repeat for the next hour and a half and it helped me get into that space of channeling the message of your song. Any time I'm having a rough day, if I flip that song on, it moves me to tears and helps me remember who I am underneath the day-to-day stresses or immediate set of problems I'm facing." So he googled me, found me through my website, and emailed me with the story. He also sent a time-lapse film of his painting set to my song. I was super-touched and impressed by his art, by the film, by the story and by his thoughtfulness! So then I thought we could make an official YouTube out of it, and weave it in with some other footage of mine. I recorded this song in 1995 (or was it 1999?... on my planet our years are not the same as earth years. For example, I'm 26; 25 next birthday) but have never really settled on how I might film for it... until Tristan turned up 23 years later! It's a long song at over 9 minutes, and seems to be one of my most popular and enduring tracks. Others have made YouTubes to it (one with nearly half-a-million views), but for my own channel I didn't quite know how best to represent it all these years. As it now transpires, interspersing Tristan's film with some footage where I sang the song in 2017 by the heavenly shores of Slovenia's sacred Lake Bohinj, works well. So I finally have a unified, integrated film interpretation of this song. It's a win-win situation for both of us! Tristan's art and my song... with the same title... both get a public airing! Tristan is new to painting. His main work is landscape designing, but he clearly has inspired depth & flair as an artist. Intriguingly he also designs retreat centres (and so is very close to nature). This is what he says about that: "I've been in business for 15 years, and two years ago I got the opportunity to design a retreat center. It completely re-invigorated my interest in my profession. I want to continue to create healing sanctuaries to help support people in their personal growth and transformation, and whilst I do that on some level with the residential landscape design work, it's soooo much more fulfilling for me to design spaces that are focused on people coming together in community (or solo) to connect with themselves, with mother nature, and to do the important healing work that's best facilitated outside of one's day-to-day life." See here: http://www.solsticeld.com/retreat-cen... He also has a Facebook page here:   / tristan.heberlein   This was my last song for New world Music before I became independent. I was inspired by the title of Enigma's 'Return to innocence,' and as both a spiritual 'pilgrim' and also a transpersonal psychotherapist, the longing to 'return to my soul' was at the forefront of all my endeavours. What does that mean? Well, lyrically it weaves around what it says in the Gospels, that: "Ye must be as a little child to enter the kingdom of heaven." I take this to mean to aspire morally to be transparent and true, guileless, faithful & trusting of God and love, and to see God in all things. This is our essence of soul. Musically it combines an orchestrated, dreamy flamenco chord sequence as an introduction, with a Baroque kind of chamber-piece for oboe, strings & pizzicato in the style of Tomasso Albinoni, which in turn itself becomes quite anthemic. Classical singer Susanna (Suzanne Bramson) sang the female vocals as a session-singer. Many of my longer songs and pieces veer towards 'build and repetition'; so they can be quite hypnotic and trance-like once they hit that sweet-spot. With music that I've loved ever since I was a kid, I'd play it on repeat over & over again, and that's how I compose too. I find a sequence in my 'heart' and just play it over and over, and then the words come; the message. This is both cathartic and healing personally, and this is also what people say that they like about my songs... that they are cathartic and healing.
