In January of 1922, the Automobile Club of Milan decided to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their existence by building a large racing facility. The project would be the first of its kind in Europe, with only Brooklands in England and Indianapolis in the United States preceding it. The initial layout was designed by Alfredo Rosselli, and doubled as a test track for Italy's car manufacturers. Vincenzo Lancia and Felice Nazzaro both broke ground for the circuit during a ceremony in late February, but work was stopped soon after due to a protest. On May 15th work began in full, with 3500 employees toiling away. In just 110 days, the circuit was complete, and the first drivers to complete a lap were Pietro Bordino and Felice Nazzaro in a Fiat 570. The circuit officially opened on September 3rd for a voiturette race, won by Pietro Bordino in a Fiat 501. This was followed by a motorcycle race won by Amedeo Ruggeri on a Harley Davidson 1000. On September 10th, the Italian Grand Prix was held at Monza for the first time, with teammates Bordino and Nazzaro finishing 1-2 for Fiat.   / posts   https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/192...
