In this video we will be learning about Raft foundations, also known as Mat foundations via 3D animation. They are a type of shallow foundations. Types of Raft foundation will be shown which are concrete raft with drops, raft with beams / ribs and raft with piles. In the later part we will see reinforcement detailing in raft foundation. It will cover the top and bottom mesh, punching shear reinforcement in the form of shear links or shear studs, additional reinforcement, column stirrups and vertical reinforcement.
