Pomegranate seeds mixed with red and pink, dropping down from the fingertips falling into the tray seem like the gems in a sack which drop down from a hole on it. This gives the imaginary of an old stories on “Raja Wasala” that we have heard. The sun coming through the leaves of Kabolila tree gives an extra shine and glam to the Pomegranate seeds. Sour Orange tree (Embul Dodam) has been fruitful ever since my childhood. That hasn’t changed even now. It bears more than twenty to thirty oranges though it isn’t young at all. Drinking the juice made with Orange, Gel of Aloe vera and Pomegranate Juice mixed with sugar and salt keeps our bodies calm and cool. This divine drink gives such a vibe. The Chicken Legs marinated with Salt, Pepper and Pomegranate Syrup was giving a nice aroma around when it’s cooked inside the oven. It was a good match when the Tempered Traditional Noodle prepared with Carrot, Leaks and Eggs is served with Coconut Milk Curry (Kiri Hodi) and the said Chicken Curry. I used to eat Kisses/ Meringues Cookies on the way back to home from school. I put them inside the pockets of my school bag and left them until my mother caught them up with ants in the morning. That happened when she put our lunch packets in our bags. She isn’t like my father. She just spits out few words and calms down. My father never stops beating us. Not getting blamed from my mother is like the morning without the bed tea. So that we are used it . Sugar, Vanilla Essence and two drops of Lime should be added to the white egg and should be beaten until it comes to a thick texture. This is just the way of making Kisses/ Meringues Cookies. Then, I made it as I wanted and kept it inside the oven to bake it for two hours in medium heat. Later, the Strawberries, Black Grapes and Pomegranate should be cut into little pieces and fill the shapes inside. This candy is ideal to munch when having a chitchat with my father. I made a sweet treat for evening tea time. I fried string hoppers and poured caramel made with Pomegranate Syrup on it. Also, I boiled some dried Pomegranate Flowers. Though I tried the caramel this time with Pomegranate Syrup for a change, the most common way of making caramel is with treacle. The fried string hoppers with poured caramel on it would give a best match with a hot cup of tea! Everyone should give it a try!!!
