Both Virl and Tom were born deaf, joining siblings Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Jimmy, and Marie in the musical family. The Osmond Brothers were a popular singing group comprised of brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay Osmond. Their younger brothers, Donny and Jimmy, also joined the trio and went on to have musical careers of their own. With Donny's addition, the Osmonds were instantly recognizable, and they went on to achieve massive success as a teen idol group and rock band between 1971 and 1975. Their first single was an immediate success, shooting to the top of the Billboard charts. They chose to tour the United States after hearing how well "Down by the Lazy River" and "Crazy Horses" were received in Europe. Before launching successful solo and duet careers with Donny in 1973, Marie, the lone sister, rarely shared the stage with her brothers. To date, over 77 million copies of Osmonds' music have been sold throughout the globe. They had their 50th anniversary as a quartet in 2007, however, Alan and Wayne had to leave due to health issues, so the surviving members recruited Jimmy. Nonetheless, in 2019, the band became a trio once again with the addition of David Osmond, Alan's son. It was announced on Marie Osmond's 60th birthday, October 14, 2019, that the original lineup of the Osmond Brothers would return for what was billed as their farewell appearance on CBS' The Talk. In that same year, the brothers issued their farewell album, titled "The Last Chapter," and performed its title track. Are All the Osmond Brothers Still Alive
