20hr QANTAS research flight replicated in MSFS! Also known as the "double sunrise flights", we see two sunrises and one sunset on this flight! Flown in the Horizon 787-9. View in 4K. (The plane that flew this flight was also painted in the 100yr livery!) If QANTAS begins operating this route it will become the world's longest commercial passenger flight! They are tentatively planning to fly this starting in 2025 using modified (long range) a350-1000s. This is the north route, flying from London Heathrow, over Western Europe, Russia, China, Indonesia, and finally over Australia before landing in Sydney. For those of you who want to nerd out for a second… I started this flight at 5pm my time, and then went and did chores and things before sleeping all night. I didn’t land until just after noon the next day. I missed a few step climbs because of this. Also, I flew a little slower than was planned… (Mach .78 instead of .82) I was concerned about fuel and arriving too early, but because I flew it so much slower and there was also a favorable tail wind most the way, ...and the plane probably isn’t burning fuel accurately, I ended up landing w/ 19 tons of fuel left! The eagle eyed of you may notice discrepancy between the landing in Sydney and the sped up approach.
