Travel To Study Abroad & Moving To Latin America | Grad Student Vlog | PhD Student Moving For School

It has always been my dream to move to Latin America! So when I became a graduate student and knew I could study abroad and travel anywhere in the world for my PhD Research, I knew I had to make my way to Brazil. Moving for school is never easy, studying abroad comes with many life changes and unknowns. But when you take the leap and choose to move to another country you realize just how important traveling to study and do research can be! Hopefully you enjoy this grad student vlog and the beginning of my journey of studying and living in Latin America! ON LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: As I continue to work to be a better person, I want to make sure the work and creative projects I make are never at the expense of others. The places I visit and the experiences I have, ESPECIALLY in this video, take place on unceded territory of Indigenous peoples. In solidarity with their struggle for sovereignty, I have included land acknowledgements below and within my video. But land acknowledgements aren't enough! So please check out the resources below on the Indigenous communities who lands I visited! Kickapoo (DFW Metroplex) We acknowledge our presence on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the peoples of the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas. Mvskoke Muscogee and Tsalaguwetiyi - Cherokee, East (Atlanta, Georgia) We acknowledge the Muscogee (Creek) people who live, work, produce knowledge on, and nurture the land where Atlanta is now located. We recognize the sustained oppression, land dispossession, and involuntary removals of the Muscogee and Cherokee peoples from Georgia and the Southeast. We seek to honor the Muscogee Nation and other Indigenous caretakers of this land by humbly seeking knowledge of their histories and committing to respectful stewardship of the land. Tekohá and Mbya (Sao Paulo, Brazil) We acknowledge the Mbya and Tekohá (Guarani) Peoples, their Elders, past and present, as well as their future generations, their poetry, and their living songs. As visitors on their land. We affect these lands and the peoples of the lands on which we work, play, and study. We remember that the Indigenous peoples of this area are still fighting to have their voices not only heard, but included, in the creation of this society, upon their native territories.
