The Good Rats Live at BB Kings, NYC - April 16th, 2011 (Multicam)

I'll start by saying, I'm a big fan of The Good Rats. I grew up listening to their music on Long Island and it was their drummer, Joe Franco, who was my inspiration to play. Though I was too young to get into bars to see them, my older brother would take me to buy their records. I would get absorbed into the musicianship of their songs and especially loved looking at all the details on that crazy Ratcity In Blue album. Fast forward to 2010, with video production as my business, I reached out to a fan who ran a Facebook page about the band and she connected me to John "The Cat". Well, John and I spoke and I told him of my idea to come up to NY (I now live in Orlando) and create a documentary about the band. So I set out on this passion project with my talented good friend, Mark Russell, and began interviewing the band and recording live shows. A few trips to NY, some shows and 14hrs of recorded storytelling from the band later, I created a 5-chapter documentary - The Tail of The Good Rats. Which can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/showcase/2674518 And during that time, I shot this live concert at BB Kings in NYC on April 16th, 2011. Sadly, Peppi is no longer with us to see this, but I hope this brings a reminder of the talent, passion and drive he had towards music and entertaining. This entire band is incredibly talented and having the opportunity to interview them, listening to hours of great stories from their musical adventures, is something this Long Island kid never could've imagined. One cam had an audio feed from the house board and another got a feed from the monitor mix. BB Kings was sold out and packed. I was running the main cam wedged in between two tables behind the main mixer and my buddy, Mark, was braving the crowds by the stage with his amazing hand held camera skills. Trying his best to get from stage right to stage left. The crowd was definitely in a partying mood. AND we were never in communication. So we had to just guess what each of us was shooting to hopefully capture something different. What you see and hear is the best we can pull off with 6 cams and only 2 people. But I'm happy with how it turned out and it was a blast to be there.
