Star Wars (25, 793 BBY): Dawn of the Jedi: The Adventures of Lanoree Brock, Je'daii Ranger (Short Story) "Dawn of the Jedi: The Adventures of Lanoree Brock, Je'daii Ranger" is a short story written by Tim Lebbon that was published on the Kindle Daily Post website on April 25, 2013. This story is also set at "The Dawn of the Jedi" and one of only SEVEN works created within the Before the Republic Era (37,000 - 25,000 BBY) to date. The original story takes the form of a star ship's log entry made by Lanoree Brock, and was intended to provide additional detail regarding the Ranger's background; taking place between chapters 2 and 3 of 'Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void'. and describes her thoughts on her latest mission from the Je'daii Council. The extended version of this short story delves into Lanoree's background, her relationship with her brother, and past missions as a means of better understanding her motivations, behaviors, and actions in the 'Dawn of the Jedi Into the Void' novel. Similar to the short story, "Dawn of the Jedi: Eruption", enough detail is provided to queue up the final Dawn of the Jedi story: 'Dawn of the Jedi: Force War'; which is currently being adapted into a full-length audiobook. Other details such as Lanoree's Patriot-class starship and her faithful droid companion, Ironholgs, are introduced in more detail. Note: It was concerning that "Dawn of the Jedi: he Adventures of Lanoree Brock, Je'daii Ranger" was published as little more than a "press release" in its final form, but given the timing it is no surprise. Keep in mind, multiple stories had been completed only a few months before Disney's acquisition of Star Wars. One of the unfortunate side effects of the acquisition was the split and subsequent creation of the "Extended Universe" as well as the cancellation and/or abridgement of many projects at that time. We have taken care to produce this short story in the way it was originally intended to be released (or as close to it as possible) with the audiobook now close to 25 minutes in length. The Archivist Publishing's version expands upon the original story by providing background information which is only available through a careful reading of the previous work, inclusive of the comics series.
