On the Tire Rack Pole was Johan Schwartz driving a beautiful Porsche 944, and to his left was past pro racer Chip Herr, piloting the same Audi A4 he won his first World Challenge Touring Car race in. Behind them, Joe Moser was looking for another STU gold medal, while Mark Liller was looking mighty fast in a Dodge Neon SRT-4.
