Push was written by Rob Thomas, the lead vocalist of Matchbox Twenty. It tells the story of a tumultuous relationship from his past. Inspired by a high school girlfriend who vindictively ended their relationship by donating his clothes to charity. With limited resources, Rob relied on the generosity of local bands who supported him by providing t-shirts and other items. As a result, he spent the following months wearing various band t-shirts, which became a defining aspect of his personal journey. In an interview, Rob revealed the true essence of "Push" by explaining, "I was actually writing about my own experiences. It reflected a time when I felt manipulated by someone, but instead of portraying myself as a victim, I decided to shift the perspective and depict myself as the one doing the manipulation. The song became an expression of my desire to assert control and take someone for granted." Through our cover, we've aimed to capture the raw emotions and the essence of Rob's original vision while infusing it with our style.
