Today's video covers scoliosis rehab exercises that can help reduce pain and improve mobility. Scoliosis is a sideways or lateral curvature of the spine that is most commonly diagnosed in adolescence. Some individuals with scoliosis may need to wear a brace to prevent their curve from worsening. In more severe cases, surgery may be necessary to correct spinal alignment and prevent the lungs from being compromised. Most curves are mild and can be managed conservatively with stretching and strengthening rehab exercises. Stretching exercises are primarily done in one direction to help reverse the sideways curve in the spine. Strengthening exercises are utilized to help improve spinal muscle performance, so that the muscles can keep the spine in a more neutral position.
