Watch my overnight bus journey from Vijayawada to Bengaluru by APSRTC Amaravati Volvo B11R bus. This is my second APSRTC multi-axle bus journey. I previously travelled from Hyderabad to Vijayawada by APSRTC Amaravati Scania bus. The fare was Rs. 1610 and was scheduled to reach Majestic (Bengaluru) by 6:50 am. Total distance is 660 kms and takes around 13 hours to cover. The roads are good hence able to maintain good speed. Amenities provided by the bus included wet tissue, water bottle & blankets. Snacks were also available to purchase as and when needed. We were doing good speeds and covering the journey well. However, after nearing Tirupati, the AC stopped working. The crew then decided to take the bus to Mangalam bus depot to try & get the AC fixed. After trying for an hour, they decided to change the bus as it was causing a lot of delay. Our bus was then changed from Volvo B11R to Volvo B9R. The Volvo B9R bus even though it was old was maintained well. The AC was infact stronger in this one. The drivers then tried to try & recover some lost time. We overtook many private buses like Orange Starz, Rajesh AL bus, Orange AL bus & many more. We reached Majestic at 8:35 am, which was not that bad considering the lost time. Vijayawada bus stand or Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS)is India's 6th largest bus stand. This Bus station is spread over an area of 28 acres of land and it is one of the largest Bus station in India preceded by Millennium Park Bus Depot in Delhi (60 acres), Mofussil Bus Terminus in Chennai (36.5 acres) and following by Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station in Hyderabad (20 acres). It consists of four blocks, two main blocks serving departure terminal with 48 platforms and arrival terminal with 12 platforms, one RTC House serving as a NTR Administrative block headquarters of APSRTC and one block namely City Bus Port serving city buses. There are four entrances to the bus station, each serving as entrance and exit. The entries are from North Side (City Bus Port), East Side (Main entrances) and two on South Side (in front of NH-65 in Krishna Lanka).
