How to Avoid Waxing Accidents Being a waxer, you’re going to experience waxing accidents one day or another. There’s no way around it! And that’s ok. But if you know what to look for, it can make the chance of those waxing accidents happening a lot less. So I’m going to help! Not having the right wax consistency for the service. It’s our job to ensure our wax stays at the correct consistency throughout the day. However, sometimes we mess up and aren’t paying attention so the wax might get either too hot or too cool for one of your services. What do you do?! If the wax gets too hot, add more beads of wax to your warmer. Since the wax is warm, the beads should quickly melt so you can add more. This will start to cool your wax down, thus making it usable. I also recommend twirling your stick a couple more times before applying it to your client. You’d be shocked how a couple extra twirls can make the world of a difference! If your wax is too cool, turn your wax warmer up and start to stir your wax. Within 30 seconds or so, the outside edge of your wax should start to heat up so I would recommend pulling from that outside edge until more of your wax warms up. How to get wax out of hair. This happened to me one time while I was waxing one of my long-time clients' full face. I was in the middle of her eyebrow wax and we got deep in conversation, and I accidently stopped twirling my wax and dropped wax right on her eyelashes! Luckily her eyes were closed (thank god!) but I was absolutely horrified! I allowed the was to completely cool and then used oil to slowly get the wax out. You slowly have to work the oil into the wax and you’ll see it starts to fall apart. After a couple of minutes (and me apologizing profusely) that I was able to completely remove the wax. I gave her free waxes for life after that lol. So oil is your best friend if trying to get wax out of hair or skin! How to get wax out of clothes. This is the exact reason I like wearing scrubs when I’m waxing a client. Getting wax on your clothes suck but don’t worry, you can get it off! The easiest way is to use a hair dryer on high heat to warm the wax back up. Then use a paper towel and blot the wax or try to peel the wax off. You can also use an iron on a low setting with a paper bag in between the iron and clothes. The iron will warm the wax and the bag will absorb the wax from the clothes.
