In this episode we are fly fishing for trout. It is a cool, cloudy day in August which seems to help with insect hatches and fishing. We use nymphs, dry flies and emergers to catch and release scrappy Cutthroat trout. This is a stretch of the river in a small canyon so, we hike down to the bottom to start. We start fly fishing with San Juan worm patterns since it had rained the night before and they work right away. Soon Ladin switches over to dry flies and I try an emerger for Blue Winged Olives and both start to work really well. We even get into a bit of a Green Drake hatch.
