This was their 212th concert of the year 2016 and what better place to end the European tour than the legendary Tavastia Club in downtown Helsinki, Finland! And what a gig it was! Of all the Simo gigs out there, this to my mind is the most electrifying performance. Just look at JD hopping and running around the stage and Adam and Elad playing their hearts out. Simply amazing. This is the full concert with some extra footage of Simo signing autographs at the end. There are some improvements over the previously uploaded individual songs with improved audio, especially in the case of Temptation, and newly crop and panned sections, notably Return. The footage was stabilized with Mercalli v4, which cut off a bit from the top at times, something I perhaps should have remembered when composing the picture but then again being so close also made composition challenging in a way. The stabilization programme for some reason flashes the Mercalli logo for a split second in Long May You Sail and Be With You, something I only noticed after uploading the video here. Fortunately that is barely discernible. The footage was also crop and panned extensively using keyframes. The colors and contrast were adjusted using keyframes. The lighting conditions were quite challenging, which is why I used ISOs 800 - 3,200, resulting in somewhat grainy image quality. I started with automatic metering but the camera overexposed the first part of the opening song Temptation, and it took a while before I got it right. Towards the end I used slower shutter speeds, which I think works well in for example Be With You. At times I was also taking pictures with an SLR in one hand and the LX100 in the other. Also, the H1 fell off the hot shoe right at the start of the concert, which led to my having to keep it in one hand while filming with the camera in the other for the first three songs before I could reattach the device onto the hot shoe again. Consequently, there is some shifting in loudness and audio quality during the first three songs, which I tried to edit away the best I could. A big hand to Jukka Tavi for providing me with footage to replace shaky or otherwise useless footage with in Temptation and Long May You Sail. The mixing also left something to be desired at times, with JD's vocals getting buried in the mix in some songs while being quite audible in others. Overall though, I think the sound is very good and most importantly, the performance is outstanding, with true highlights like Temptation, Light The Candle, I'd Rather Die In Vain, and Be With You. JD's really pouring his heart out and Adam and Elad are so perfectly in tune with him and each other - it's like they're using telepathy. SIMO are currently in the studio preparing their new album set to be released sometime in the summer of 2017 and if this performance and the new songs heard are anything to go by, it will surely be magical. I so hope they will include at least Temptation and Be With You in it but the other new songs kick ass as well! This is a fan release encouraged by Simo thanks to their audience taping policy. It is not to be capitalized on, so please do not claim it your own work and resell it in any format. Do share it, for free, though, for more people to experience just what a band SIMO are.
