Reactive German Shepherd: Before and After Use of Prong Collar

We aren’t dogs. So using tools that mimic dog-to-dog communication makes sense. You’ve heard me share on numerous posts how verbal communication cannot possibly be the most effective way to communicate with an animal who is primarily tactile, visual and intentional with energy. Using verbal commands with dogs is great, and they can respond to them. But they are also responding to the physical and visual cues you may not even realize you are presenting. The prong is the most innate tool to a dog. We always see dogs putting their teeth all over one another with inhibited amounts of pressure. They could be playing, or correcting one another. And when they are not doing that, they’re using body or spatial pressure with intention to communicate. Teeth are Mother Nature’s prong collar. In this video I take unruly Raja and show you the difference between trying to create leash yielding with a martingale versus a prong collar. (The prong is technically a martingale by design, but flat nylon versus the prongs make all the difference.) . The prong collar with proper technique can create instant results. But we are not about quick fixes or thinking a tool alone is going to achieve our training goals. The prong is the bridge that makes communication easier. Once we have a proper way to communicate, we can put a thorough foundation of training onto the dog. #Prong #Prongcollar #ObedienceTraining #Leash #LeashTraining #LeashHandling #LeashWalking #DogTrainer #DogTraining #GSD #GermanShepherd #GermanShepherdDog #GermanShepherdDog
