A 1922 Steinway Duo-Art: "Dance Away the Night", "Why?" and "Puttin' on the Ritz"

This Steinway & Sons Duo-Art mahogany model OR 6'6" reproducing player grand #210571 was built in 1922 in New York, and was completely restored in February 2015 at Historic Pianos. The instrument is heard playing the final three numbers of an 8-selection program roll titled "Popular Hits of the Day No. 2", with pieces written between 1927-1930. These three numbers were played by Pauline Alpert or Frank Milne, who also recorded using the pseudonym of Ralph Addison. Milne was a very prolific and popular roll arranger for the Aeolian Corp. who made the Duo-Art reproducing system, and his catchy accented performances show off the capabilities of the Duo-Art. The first half of the roll can be seen at:    • Five Popular Hits of the Day (1927-19...   Please visit historicpianos.com for more information on this instrument or other reproducing pianos.
