Note Books and Sketch Pads from Polymer Clay, a tutorial.

Create sweet little note books, sketch pads or artists books as wonderful presents for yourself or others using this step by step tutorial. Showcasing Cane No.64, you can use it to create wonderful patterns on the front cover in polymer clay. I have made heart shaped booklets, but you can create whatever shape you like, so sit back, relax, and watch as I show you how, then have some fun and make your own. The music from the video is English Country Garden by Aaron Kenny and Waterfall by Aakash Gandhi, both available from the YouTube Free Audio Library. If you like my work, then please do have a look at my website, http://www.fionaabel-smith.co.uk/ and follow me on Facebook   / fiona.abelsmith   and Instagram.   / fionaabelsmith.artist   I also have a number of Polymer Clay PDF Tutorials to buy in my Etsy shop, PolyOriginals - https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PolyOrig... and as a video tutorial here - http://polyoriginals.thinkific.com/co... Here is the link to my conditioning Polymer Clay video -    • Conditioning Polymer Clay Quickly - s...   Here is the link to the Skinner Blends video –    • Basic Skinner Blend Tutorial from Pol...   The Heart Template is downloadable from my Website here, scroll down to the bottom of the page to find it – https://fionaabel-smith.co.uk/youtube... and is free for you to use – but please do not copy/sell/teach using the template without my express permission. The hearts on the PDF are a little smaller than the one I used in the project as I wanted to be able to get 4 on a page for you to print multiple copies if necessary, so just change the size to your preference. Polymer Clay is oven baked, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the brand of clay you are using. I used FIMO Soft Polymer Clay, but all well-known brands of polymer clay will work well for this project. I used ¼ oz (7g) of the blend colours, and 2 oz (56g) of the outline/background colour. For the second design I showed, I used White/Lilac/Purple, Lemon Yellow/Sunflower Yellow/Indian Red, Brilliant Blue/Peppermint/White and Emerald Green/Soft Green Mix/White and the background/outline colour was Black. I used a Pasta Machine dedicated to Polymer Clay use to create blends and condition the clay. My Pasta Machine is an Atlas 180, and it has setting 0 as its thickest and 9 as its thinnest. There is a standard way of calculating the thickness of clay required, by using stacked playing cards. On my machine the thicknesses are as follows: Setting 0 = 8 playing cards, setting 1 = 7, setting 2 = 6, setting 3 = 5, setting 4 = 4, setting 5 = 3, setting 6 and 7 = 2, setting 8 and 9 = 1 card. CaneCaps, are from Tiny Pandora, and can be found here: https://tinypandora.com/products/cane... and if you are in the UK, then the Cane Savers can be found here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/UKPolyme... Have fun with this one, and I cannot wait to see what you create. Thank you so much for watching.
