Once abandoned railroad siding restored - New Bedford, MA

The New Bedford, MA Maritime Terminal rail siding was cut off from the mainline and unused for a few decades until 2014. That year Maritime Terminal received a grant to restore service on their siding. This meant a new switch and gate had to be installed. This work was completed in April of 2014 and the first reefer cars were delivered in May 2014. I believe these cars brought in frozen fish to New Bedford. Until 2016 the track was used regularly when a rail bridge had to be replaced on the mainline into New Bedford. After that work was completed trains ran again to the Maritime Terminal until 2019. That year they stopped receiving rail service but this was once again restored in February of 2021. Since then rail service to the terminal has been quite regular and at times it is very busy. As of the upload date of 2/15/22 two empty cars were pulled and two loaded cars took their place at Maritime Terminal. This video shows some low quality but now historic "before" views of the siding in 2013 then shows the switch/gate/service restoration in 2014. Footage from 2017, 2019, and 2021 is also included showing the Mass Coastal Railroad delivering cars to Maritime Terminal.
