Get Back- The Beatles (Guitar Cover)

The album version of Get Back (From Let It Be in 1970) is made up of recordings from two different days. The main part of the song was recorded in Apple's basement studio on January 27th 1969. But the intro and outro were comprised of edited bits from the January 30th 1969 Rooftop Concert The single version of Get Back, released almost a year earlier in 1969 also uses the same Jan 27 take. It did not include the Rooftop Concert audio. It did however include a coda from Jan 28th My cover is the ALBUM version of Get Back, so I recreated the rooftop concert intro montage! I dressed up in Rooftop Concert clothing for the intro and switched to similar outfits worn on Jan 27th for the main section. There, you can see footage from January 27th; the actual footage of them recording the song! Because it was so well documented, we know exactly what gear was used for it John played his 1965 Epiphone Casino into a 1968 Fender Twin Reverb. You can clearly see him using his bridge pickup, and we can assume the tone knob was rolled down a lot because the tone is very dark. George is seen using the bridge pickup of his 1968 Fender Rosewood Telecaster, also into a '68 Twin Reverb amp. The same setup was used for the rooftop concert I'm using a 2021 Epiphone USA Casino into my 1974 Fender Pro Reverb amp. I'm mic'ing my amp with a real Neumann condenser microphone, like they used for the Get Back sessions. I'm boosting the amp with a Boss GE-7 equalizer, set with emphasized midrange. My knob settings for the Casino are: Volume 10, Tone 0.5 For George's part, I'm using a Fender Rosewood Telecaster made in japan in the 2010's. It's also going into my 1974 Fender Pro Reverb. This is a very similar amp to the Twin Reverb's they used Interesting Notes: 0:00 George's A note from rooftop is wobbly. Maybe a tape glitch. I recreated this using Abbey Road J37 Tape Saturation plug-in 0:16 Phil Spector used a combination of audio here. George and Billy tuning up before Dig A Pony, and before a take of Get Back 0:21 The January 27th studio take begins here. John slaps the strings on an A7 chord 0:44 George mute-chugs on A hard 0:53 George plays an A7 for second part of the chorus, might be hard to see but i lift my ring finger off the g-string to make it a X02020 1:00 John takes the first solo 1:04 John slides up the 9th fret on the A string, but accidentally hits the Low E string 8th fret too 1:27 George goes to the D chord, while John stays on A 1:32 Billy Preston takes a keyboard solo here (didn't include his audio) 1:56 John ends this lick on a ghost note flub, then extends pinky out to the 10th fret of A string instead of 9th fret 2:03 George sustains a G chord, instead of playing G to D 2:20 John takes a second solo 2:31 John hits the high e string- 12th fret in addition to his b string- 12th fret bend here 2:42 George plays a hard A chord, then does a fast triplet strum on G and D MY GEAR: 2021 Epiphone Casino USA Royal Tan 2010's Fender MIJ Rosewood Telecaster 1974 Fender Silverface Pro Reverb 1982 Boss GE-7 (Analogman mod) Neumann TLM-103 Thanks for watching!
