Classic Aircraft Simulations J-3 Cub - Aerobatics in a new Favorite - Microsoft Flight Simulator

Today we're finally taking the new Piper Cub by Classic Aircraft Simulations up for a fun aerobatic flight over Burning Blue Designs fantastic Andrewsfield. There are quite a few Cubs being used for aerobatic routines at airshows around the world. If you have ever seen a performance, you'll be impressed by what is possible with this little 65 hp aircraft and especially by the amount of rudder authority. In this video I try to show off how well CAS recreated the flying characteristics of the Cub by "performing" the typical maneuvers you would see in a Cub Aerobatic routine. As the J-3 Cub is one of my favorite aircraft in the real world, I've been hoping to see a good one in MSFS ever since the release of the sim. So, when CAS released their Cub a few weeks ago I got super excited and to say that it is what I was hoping for is an understatement. It's absolutely fantastic and probably my favorite aircraft currently in the sim. It has tons of features, perfectly captures what a Cub is all about and just feels alive. I just can't stop flying it. Classic Aircraft Simulations Cub isn't just visually stunning, with a great soundpack and fantastic flight model, it's also very deeply modeled, with failures, proper engine and systems management. I would say it's to the same standard as Black Squares Duke or A2A's Comanche. Of course systems wise it's a much simpler aircraft, but CAS managed to make the Cub feel "alive". All the vibrations and shakes you have in the real one are there. You'll feel, hear and see if your engine is cold or warm, healthy or unhealthy. They perfectly capture what a Cub is all about. It's the ultimate A to A airplane and perfect for low and slow summer evening flights. I noticed that a few people struggle with starting the Cub. In summer temperatures you don't need to use the primer. I always turn the prop through (with fuel on and mags off) for four blades before turning on the mags. It usually starts on the first try (remember to crack the throttle). If you have flooded the engine turn off the mags and push the throttle full forward, then pull the propeller through counterclockwise (against its turning direction) for eight blades. Then reset the throttle and try again. CAS already announced that further variants will be added to the Cub. And it looks like a float version will be added with the next update. I can't wait to see what other aircraft CAS will bring to the sim. If they are only half as good as the Cub, they will still be brilliant. One important thing to note: I love that the doors can be operated in a realistic way, however you can see me struggling with closing the doors in flight, which can happen from time to time and can be quite frustrating. What I didn't realize at the time of recording, there is a simple and reliable way to close the door: There are CLICKSPOTS on the bottom three screws of the right windscreen frame for both door halves and the door handle. Overall, I can't recommend the Cub high enough. In my opinion it's an absolute must have and for under 20€ an absolute steal!
