From Alienation to Reunification: Research Highlights and Recommendations - Dr. Mandy Matthewson

Dr Mandy Matthewson gives a summary of the findings from her research. She has interviewed and collected data from adult alienated children, targeted parents and targeted grandparents to learn more about their experiences, how they cope and what is needed to better support them and address parental alienation. In this presentation, Dr Matthewson shares what she has learned from research participants about how to cope in response to parental alienating behaviors. Dr Matthewson is a senior lecturer in the school of psychological sciences at the University of Tasmania and a senior clinical psychologist in private practice. She is the lead researcher in the Family and Interpersonal Relationship Research Lab at UTAS. Dr Matthewson's work focuses on the fields of family relationships, family violence, parental alienating behaviours and psychological trauma. She is coauthor of the book Understanding and Managing Parental Alienation: A Guide to Assessment and Intervention.
