One of my favorite subjects! Creating an achromatic doublet! I love color correcting refractive optical systems... call me a nerd:) If you want to skip the history portion skip from 2:30 to 6:50. In fact if you want to skip right to the equations go to 6:50. A few things I forgot to mention in this video blog: *Axial color is also called "Transverse chromatic aberration", "Longitudinal chromatic aberration", the former is a measure on of light deviation on the image plane, the later is measured along the optical axis. *Greivenkamps book "Field Guide to Geometric Optics" was a resource... and it is a great, low cost little book. *Ramsden is famous for his eyepiece which is two plano convex lenses with the plano sides facing each other... wiki pedia and optipedia are great references. *I really glossed over the Seidel theory.
