Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families in Palo, Leyte 7/04/2024

Leyte Academic Center, Palo, Leyte July 4, 2024 Bringing the whole-of-government approach to areas greatly affected by El Niño in previous months, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. heads to the Municipality of Palo in Leyte to provide assistance to Region VIII or Eastern Visayas on July 4, 2024. Select beneficiaries composed of farmers and fisherfolk from the Provinces of Leyte, Biliran and Southern Leyte receive PhP10,000 each from the President to aid them from the devastating effects of El Niño. Farm machineries, equipment and various government projects are also given to identified recipients of the Department of Agriculture (DA), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) while the Office of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez provides five (5) kilos of rice to each attendee. Furthermore, the Chief Executive hands out Presidential assistance amounting to PhP17,020,000 to the Provincial Government of Leyte, PhP13,680,000 to the Provincial Government of Biliran and PhP10,310,000 to the Provincial Government of Southern Leyte to support these areas as they recover from the crisis and rebuild the livelihoods of their people.
