💈 Local Shave w/ Friendly Old School 82-Year-Old Okinawan Barber | Nago Japan

During our time in Okinawa last year, it was a pleasure to meet old school barber Mr. Kazuo who is 82 years old 💈❤️ He is very friendly and enjoys talking with his customers! His frequent laughter made us smile :) When Mr. Kazuo was 16, he left his hometown in Southern Okinawa to study barbering in Tokyo and Osaka. While working in Osaka, many people would ask for him because he was well known for being good at face shaving for women. After working in Osaka and Tokyo, he returned to Okinawa and began different businesses. One as a beekeeper and a jewelry shop as well. Being an entrepreneur, he started up businesses and sold them once they began to do well and then moved on to the next one. 新垣理容室 / Aragaki Barbershop located in the northern Okinawa town of Nago has been in business for over 40 years and is one of the last true old school barbershops in Okinawa. A colorful yellow exterior and bright spinning barber pole greet customers.
