The lines come down into a pretty parallel, but real straight back here in the tail. Now that's giving you projection, and then the water will come through this point and then it will release. And with this wide, square tail in here, the board will release out of the water, very easily. So in other words, the water in a round pin would come up and follow that water flow all the way to the tip of the tail. But in this one, the water flow comes out here to the edge, and then is released, which is giving you a real snappy turn. Real loose turn, but still you have projection with this straighter line in the tail. Square tails are used mostly in your short board designs, because they're mostly for small waves. They're great for small summer surf, because they have so much release in it, so much area back in there. They're planing, they're giving you lift, and they're giving you release. All this area up here is just releasing off of the tail. The water is releasing off of the tail. And that is your square tail.
