A historical highway for commerce and travel, the river provided riches to the city for centuries and still does. While it was primarily cement up until the 2000's, the city has converted much of the riverfront area into lovely parkland with playgrounds and art installations. Just minutes away from the busy downtown and multiple arenas, stadiums, and museums, the Cincinnati Riverfront remains fairly quiet. It's easy to enjoy the gardens and trails in relative peace.
