First 2 months of residency went by so smoothly, I felt 100% sure that the branch I had chosen was perfect for me. But then I had a few bad days (I still do, and they are getting more frequent) and then I realised hmmm. I just have to get through this. I won’t enjoy every part of it. I will regret not choosing medicine very often. I will feel dumb and helpless many, many times. But I will also enjoy some things. I will look forward to some things. This is what residency is like for everyone. I am no exception. Now that I am halfway done with first year, there are few things that I know and many more that I don’t. All I can do is be sincere, be kind and be curious and strong.
